Current Obsession: Moroccan Rugs

Not for the faint of heart, these rugs are tailored to those who dare to abandon their good ol' sisal standby in favour of a splashy, vibrant, show-stopping number that screams... "I'm a risk-taker. I'm a gutsy gal who's not afraid to express my larger than life personality through my decorating."

Read on to learn more about these swoon-worthy rugs and click through the image carousels below to check out my fave pieces from each of my go-to online stores for offbeat decor gems.

Baba Souk

Azilal rugs are handmade using virgin wool by Berber women who reside in a remote part of the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. Boucherouite rugs are handmade using dyed, recycled textiles and originate from the same region. Both styles have been handcrafted by tribes people for generations.

While they may seem modern + cutting-edge to us Westerners, they're actually quite traditional. Each design is inspired by nature, as a way for the women to express their free spirit, and then passed down from weaver to weaver.
