Whether you’re looking to start from scratch, have your existing lamps restyled or choose a piece from our Lamp Orphanage, We'll work with you to develop a custom design concept and create a statement piece that you’ll treasure for years to come.
How does it work?
First we’ll establish which starting point makes the most sense for you. Next, we'll discuss a custom design concept in person or via telephone or email (depending on where you’re located).
Once a concept has been developed, we'll get to work on making it a reality.
You'll just have to sit back and relax (who am I kidding?) sit on the edge of your seat and anticipate your lamp's transformation.

What are the costs involved with going custom?
Every job is different, as each custom order has many variables, but here is a breakdown of our standard services & the associated costs...
Custom Lamp Shade Recovery - $80/shade + Fabric
We'll recover your existing lamp shades with new fabric. You can supply the shades, or choose some from our pre-assembled inventory. Just let us know what size & shape you're looking for.
Custom Lamp Shade Construction - $130/shade + Fabric
We'll construct new lamp shades from scratch, using a computer generated arc pattern, and outfit them in the fabric of your choice. You can choose the size & shape, or we can fit your lamps for new shades, free of charge.
Custom Lamp Recolouring - $50/lamp (materials included)
We'll recolour your existing lamps with a fresh coat of enamel. You can choose the finish & colour, or let us make a recommendation, based on your room, free of charge.
Custom Lamp Rewiring - $30/lamp (materials included)
Our team of electrical professionals will replace the cord, socket of your existing lamps, bringing them up to today's safety standards. You're free to choose the colour of the cord. White is our standard.
Custom Lamp Repair/Rebuilding - $50/lamp (materials included)
Our team of electrical professionals will replace any faulty parts, or rebuild your lamps from scratch and make any desired modifications, all while bringing them up to today's safety standards. Please note that when dealing with vintage, complications can arise. We make no guarantee that what you're seeking can in fact be done until the lamp has been disassembled and examined.
Sourcing:
If you're looking for a specific style of vintage lamp & you're not under a time constraint, let us know. We'll keep an eye out for you, free of charge, while sourcing for the store.
If you're looking for a specific style of vintage lamp & you've got a deadline in mind, let us know. We'd be happy to go on a hunting expedition for you, in search of the perfect piece. Need help choosing a fabric for your lamp shade. We'll find something that meets your needs. Our time will be billed per hour + mileage. Please email us to discuss rates.
*Please note that all prices are listed in Canadian dollars. HST will be added to all orders for residents of British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia & Ontario.
What fabrics can I choose from?
Choose a fabric from one of our favourite online retailers or let us source textiles for you through our trade suppliers.
Most solid fabrics can be sourced & cut locally within a few days. Most printed fabrics have a two week lead time.

Lia will happily source shades and fabrics for you and/or reconstruct shades that you provide.
For a vintage floor lamp, I found the original shade, but the groovy plaid bouclé was not the look I was after. Lia used the frame and new fabric I provided to construct a shade that better suits the room in which it now resides.
She charged $75 for the reconstruction, an extremely reasonable rate, as anyone who has bought shades recently will know.
She also created shades for a couple of large, vintage ceramic pieces I found for my client’s master bedroom. When the linen I provided read too blue, Lia sourced an alternative fabric and re-made the shades (which she provided) for $150 for the pair. Again, a very good price for custom work.
